My Favorite Childhood Dish

Despite my newly acquired gear, I haven't had time to cook lately because of work. Here is a dish I made when I was home in Malaysia a few weeks ago.

Stir-fried La La with Soy SauceThis is my favorite childhood dish--stir-fried la la (a type of clams found in Malaysia) with soy sauce. The sweetness of the la la plus the savory sauce, mmm, I could eat this forever.

If only I could find this kind of clams in the United States.

What's your favorite childhood dish?

Aww, I like this lala dish with soy sauce. It is very good with white rice, just scoop up the juice and eat with the rice.

O! I love lala! But I've never had it homecooked before; usually I have it outside in restaurants when I go out with a group of friends. A must have...

My fav childhood dish? A steaming hot bowl of chicken peppercorn soup the way my Mom does it --- extra peppercorns! And I'll still crunch some extra black pepper over my bowl! I lovelovelove spicy food! :)

My nanny used to cook this but she only put some lemongrass and boil it. Yummy. My favourite childhood dish, hot rice, butter and ikan goreng. Sometimes I will have it without butter but with some thick soy sauce (kicap manis pekat) and ikan goreng. It has to be ikan kembong and no other ikan. Simply delish.....

Hi ! Accidentaly stumble upon your blog. Your pictures are really yummy looking.

Lala can't be found in S'pore too. Although there are lots of them in M'sia.
This is one of my favourite seafood too- fried with preserved soy beans, ginger, onions and garlic.

Will definetly visit again.

I've always love lala, ever since I can remember. I can eat kilos of it! I have a few recipes given by my grandma and aunts. I can share it with you, if you want.
