Belacan Grill Malaysian Cuisine

Belacan Grill Malaysian Cuisine (Click on the image to view the complete set of 22 pictures)
May I call your attention to the Belacan Grill logo on the left navigation of Rasa Malaysia?

Now that I have your attention, please click on the logo and enter the site. Do you see something familiar? Yep, you got it right--the food pictures were shot by yours truly. (Click on the image to maximize/minimize it.)

Go on and navigate the menus on the website, surf around, and check it out. Other than food photography, the website is also developed by me (and my partner-in-crime Melting Wok who is currently away for her multi-months vacation in Malaysia).

Belacan Grill is my favorite Malaysian restaurant in the Los Angeles area--if not the west coast of the United States---so I am very happy and honored to be working on the project. I can't rave enough about how good the food is; every dish served is truly authentic, scrumptious, and unique (meaning you can't find the dishes in other Malaysian restaurants in the United States). Two thumbs way up from me!

Anyway, I took hundreds of food shots at Belacan Grill, but not everyone of them made it to the website. Click here or the image above to see the complete photo set; there are 21 dishes for your viewing pleasure.

If you would like to sample Malaysian cuisine and you're in the Los Angeles area, pay Belacan Grill a visit and tell them that Rasa Malaysia sends you. Trust me, eating at Belacan Grill is as good as eating in Malaysia, without the 18-hour flight. Plus, they will take good care of your stomach and appetite because you are my reader!

At Belacan Grill, all food is true to their original flavors and HALAL.

Your pictures look great...as usual I must say. And the food looks gorgeous. Wish I could live on the West Coast. Maybe it is not the right forum but I have 2 quick questions for you:

-Do you know a good Malaysian restaurant in New York (all these pictures have made me quite hungry)?

-I intend to spend a few days in Singapore in November-December and was thinking about spending a week end in Malaysia. Any idea of where I could go for a couple of days?

Thanks and keep up the good work.

Laurent

Lyrical Lemongrass - thanks for your nice comment. :)

Anonymous - Yep, the food was great, so after taking the pictures, I ate everything, LOL!

Steamy - thanks so much! You've got yourself a date, at Belacan Grill. :)

K&S - thanks for the comment and thanks for checking out the site.

Jasmeet - correct, I love it too, because eating there is like eating at home...it's very intimate and cozy, not commercialized at all.

Andaliman - yeah, I would love to try out every single dish on their expansive menu too. ;)

Yoyo's Food - 谢谢。

Sig - yes, don't miss out.

Radman - thanks.

Cindy - Don't miss it. Pencil it into your next trip, you would love it.

Piggy - thanks.

WMW - yeah, I would love to do more projects like this. It was really fun.

Vegasbuff - cool, you should. :)

East Meets West - where are you located? I will tell the boss to open a branch there. ;)

Cooknengr - if only we can get Malaysian see hum here...yeah, it would be 101% perfecto.

Expedited Writer - LOL, you are too funny. Yeah, don't miss out the next time you are in CA. It's certainly a lot closer than going back to Malaysia.

Maybahay - yeah, or just use your finger to grab the food. LOL. ;)

Wok and Spoon - you should move to CA, next stop!

Laurent - thanks for your comment! For New York, I have tried Penang in Chinatown, and also Nonya Restaurant in Soho. Both are pretty good. You can check them out. :) Yeah, you should totally spend a weekend or two or longer in Malaysia if you are going to be in Singapore. As to where you want to go, it depends the "mission" of your trip to Malaysia. If it's for food, do go to Penang (my hometown). You probably won't find better street food elsewhere, in my opinion. If you want a little of city plus food, KL is great too. But I think Penang will be awesome, because it's just different, plus you get to try a variety of really good food, and also can take in some sightseeing and heritage stuff. Send me an email if you want further information. :)

Cynthia - Awwww, you are too sweet. Really. I am glad to have your as a friend because you really make me feel proud of myself, and I am sure Melting Wok would feel that same. Thanks again! :)

Blogger Laurent said ... (9:45 PM) :

Thanks a lot for taking the time to post such a quick and comprehensive reply. I really appreciate it. I will surely send you an email to get further information on Penang. Thanks again.

Congratulations on a job excellently done (and to Melting Wok too)! The website looks great and the photos fantastic! My mouth is watering and the only downside of your project is that I am totally drooling after those dishes which remain much too far away from me! :) Malaysia is actually closer... ;)
