Malaysian Butter Prawns on TV and DMBLGiT First Place Winner!

Malaysian Butter PrawnsThanks to my dearest food bud Jaden at Steamy Kitchen, my famous delicious Butter Prawns dish made its TV debut, live on Tampa Bay's ABC 7 yesterday! Please click here for Jaden's post and here for the video clip.

I would like to say "thank you" to everyone who has voted for me. You know who you are and you are a star!

And of course, I have to thank the author of Authentic Recipes from Malaysia for the recipe (which I adapted). If you want to learn more about Malaysian cooking, this is a great cookbook for Malaysian cuisine.

I think it's time Malaysian food gets its much deserved recognition in the United States and hopefully it will become a popular cuisine just like Thai food or Vietnamese food in the near future.

And thanks to Jaden (again) and all the readers who have supported me thus far.

Terima kasih banyak banyak. (Thank you very much in Malay language.)

Guess what I just found out?

My steamed scallops picture won the first place (tied) of DMBLGiT September! That's not all. I also won first place for Edibility and Aesthetics, too! Click here to check out all the winning shots on Cook Sister. Thanks so much to the judges for selecting me as one of the winners.

Steamed Scallops with Soy Sauce and Garlic OilNow you understand why I love seafood so much...they are just insanely good and photogenic!!!

It was such fun to watch Jaden make your recipe on TV! And you are absolutely right about Malaysian food; until I traveled to Malaysia, I had no idea about how complex and wonderful the cuisine is, with the influences of China and India and Indonesia. Yum!

Very cool RM!! I rooted for your dish because I wanted video on exactly how it's done. Now I know :)

By the way, I'm going to be making your Assam Pedas Fish on Friday! I hope it looks just as great as yours!! Also, my mom made the same dish. (Her blog is: http://daimakitchen.mysinablog.com/index.php?op=ViewArticle&articleId=795595)

Unfortunately she didn't give credit to your blog. I just tried posting a comment to let everyone know it came from here. Hopefully it shows up! (I don't know how to read Chinese so I dunno if I posted the comment right)
